Senior Producer/Director
It was over thirty years ago at Channel TEN in Sydney when PAL colour television equipment was being tested for Australian conditions that Laurie Tesoriero was given his first opportunity to direct a small musical segment for the Barry Crocker Show. Laurie progressed his career in broadcast television mainly in the current affairs and documentary area for the next fifteen years. During that time Laurie worked on a number of high profile documentaries and specials at both the Ten and Seven Networks. He also gained a contract with the BBC in London and directed a number of international documentaries. Laurie was employed by Channel 7 Sydney as assistant manager of Artransa for three years before going freelance to work on a variety of documentaries, commercials and corporate videos.
Laurie's biggest challenge in corporate video came in 1989 when he was approach by the Federal Government to come up with a creative concept for a business promotional video which would turn Australia's international image from a "Crocodile Dundee" country to a nation with a sophisticated structure of industry, commerce and technology. The program produced to encourage international investment in Australia was translated into seven languages and won a number of awards including first prize at the International Film & Video Festival in New York. Since then Laurie has won a number of local and international awards for his corporate productions including Gold in the Australian Television Society Awards and both Silver and Gold in the training section of the AVPA awards.
In 1990 encouraged by growth in the demand for quality Corporate Video Production, Laurie started his own production and consultancy business, Laurie Tesoriero Television. His philosophy was simple. Listen to the aims of the client and deliver a quality product using the latest technology and best freelance crews and creative people available. His advice to other corporate video producers is to never try to do it all yourself. "Use other freelancers who can add an extra dimension in both creativity and focus to your productions. Your client will sense the more professional atmosphere right away and will be thrilled with the end result."
In the past twelve years Laurie has produced and directed over one hundred and eighty quality productions for business and government in the areas of promotion, training and marketing. More recently Laurie has helped other selected producers and directors with their projects on a freelance basis.
